Tara Master Association
Tara, which takes its name from Margaret Mitchell’s Civil War novel, “Gone with the Wind”, is a Southwest Florida community of more than 2,000 homes. Located in Bradenton, just north of Sarasota and west of Interstate 75, Tara is less than ten miles from celebrated Gulf Coast beaches and 20 to 45 minutes from several regional and international airports. Entering via palm-lined Tara Boulevard, visitors are offered a taste of this well designed 1,110-acre non-gated community with mature landscaping and a diverse population that includes permanent residents of all ages as well as snowbirds. The development is comprised of two established neighborhoods. On the north end is Tara Golf & Country Club, which wraps around a private golf course. Its streets are named after the characters, locations and events in the novel. On the south end is The Preserve at Tara, which encircles a semiprivate golf course and more than 50 lakes and hammocks. Street names in the Preserve reference the abundance of birds that call these hammocks home. Both sections of the Tara community offer a range of single family homes, golf villas, duplexes and condominium residences ranging in price from less than $200,000 to $500,000. High quality elementary, middle and high schools are nearby, as is a new technical institute. Various parts of the community offer recreational facilities, including swimming pools, tennis courts, a fitness center and dining options to members or the public. Nearby, cruise ships depart regularly from Tampa, and venues like Busch Gardens, Disney World and the Kennedy Space Center, all less than two hours away, are popular day trips. Fans of professional sports have many options. The Pirates and Orioles play spring baseball in Bradenton and Sarasota, while Tampa is the home of football’s Buccaneers, hockey’s Lightning and baseball’s Rays. Fans of the arts have many options, too, as the area offers vibrant art, music, and theater communities. In addition, the University of South Florida campus offers special programming for seniors in addition to its standard curricula. Tara is a deed-restricted community. Maintaining, preserving and managing the quality of the community is the responsibility of the homeowners association, The Tara Master Association (TMA). The TMA is directed by a seven-member Board of Directors elected by fellow property owners in the two neighborhoods. The Association, with the assistance of a highly regarded association management company, manages common property and landscaping, insurance, architectural review and a community television contract that includes two community channels and bulk cable services. Their efforts help to ensure that the Tara community remains an attractive and highly desirable place to live.
